Ready to wet a line in the rich waters of Gulf Shores? Our 2-hour inshore fishing trip is the perfect way to squeeze in some quality angling action without eating up your whole day. Whether you're a seasoned pro or it's your first time holding a rod, we've got you covered. Let's break down what makes this trip a must-do for anyone visiting Alabama's stunning coastline.
Step aboard our well-equipped vessel and get ready to target some of the Gulf's most sought-after inshore species. We're talking speckled trout (specks to the locals), redfish that'll put your drag to the test, and the ever-present white trout. The beauty of inshore fishing is the variety - one cast you might hook into a hard-fighting red, the next a school of specs. And don't worry about a thing - our expert captain's got all the gear, licenses, and know-how to put you on the fish.
Forget lugging your tackle box through the airport - we've got top-notch equipment ready and waiting. You'll be using light to medium action rods paired with smooth-casting reels, perfect for the inshore action. We'll rig you up with live bait or lures depending on what's working best that day. Expect to do some casting, but our captain will also show you how to work the bait effectively. It's all about reading the water, feeling for that telltale thump, and setting the hook just right.
"Captain Tony was awesome! Despite some very windy conditions he put us on fish in the ICW. His boat was great and easy to move around on, the tackle was excellent, and he did a great job making sure we were always casting, keeping the boat in position and our hooks loaded with fresh bait. For just the two hour trip, we caught over a dozen fish including Redfish, Black Drum and some really nice Speckled Trout, which he expertly cleaned and filleted for us. We enjoyed a couple days of fish fries with our haul. I would highly recommend In Too Deep Charters and Captain T'ony to anyone looking to have a great time on the water with a friendly and knowledgable charter captain. My son and I had an amazing time. Thanks again!" - Derek

Let's talk about the stars of the show - the fish you'll be targeting on this trip. First up, the speckled trout, or 'specks' as we call 'em. These spotted beauties are a blast to catch and even better to eat. They love to hang around structure, so we'll be working grass beds, oyster bars, and channel edges. Specks are known for their soft mouths, so a gentle hookset is key. Spring and fall are prime times, but you can catch them year-round in Gulf Shores.
Next, we've got the redfish - the bulldogs of the inshore scene. These copper-colored bruisers can range from "rat reds" of a couple pounds to big bull reds pushing 40 inches or more. They love to cruise the shallows, often giving themselves away with their signature tail out of the water. Reds put up a heck of a fight, often making strong runs and testing your drag. Fall is fantastic for reds, but they're around all year.
Don't overlook the white trout, either. These smaller cousins of the speckled trout are abundant and a ton of fun on light tackle. They often school up, so when you find them, it can be non-stop action. Perfect for keeping the rods bent if the bigger game isn't cooperating.
Look, I could go on all day about the joys of inshore fishing in Gulf Shores, but nothing beats experiencing it firsthand. For just $350, you and a buddy can get out on the water for a solid two hours of fishing action. Want to bring the whole crew? No problem - we can accommodate up to 4 people for an extra $50 per person. Remember, we take care of everything from gear to licenses, and we'll even clean your catch (as long as it's in season, of course).
So what are you waiting for? The fish are biting, the boat's gassed up, and we're ready to show you why Gulf Shores is a top-rated inshore fishing destination. Give us a call, book your trip, and let's make some memories on the water. Trust me, once you feel that first tug on the line, you'll be hooked for life!

Sea trout, also called speckled trout, are a staple of our inshore fishing. These silvery, spotted fish usually run 14-20 inches, though bigger ones over 5 pounds aren't uncommon. You'll find them around grass flats, deeper channels, and near structure like docks or jetties. They're most active at dawn and dusk, especially on moving tides. Trout fishing really heats up in fall and spring when water temps are mild. Anglers love their aggressive strikes and delicate flavor. Live shrimp under a popping cork is a go-to method, but soft plastics and topwater lures work great too. Here's a local tip: on calm mornings, look for subtle surface disturbances – that's often trout smashing bait. Cast beyond the ripples and work your lure through the area. Sea trout aren't the biggest fighters, but they make up for it with numbers and table quality.
Redfish are a local favorite, known for their distinctive black tail spot and coppery color. These hard-fighting fish typically run 20-30 inches, but can grow over 40 inches in deeper water. You'll find them in shallow bays, around oyster beds, and near grassy flats – often in water less than 3 feet deep. Fall and spring are prime seasons, but we catch 'em year-round here. Anglers love targeting redfish for their strong pulls and tasty meat. They'll hit topwater lures, soft plastics, and live bait. One local trick: look for "tailing" reds in really shallow water, where their backs and tails break the surface as they feed. Approach quietly and you might get some explosive strikes. Whether you're after a trophy bull red or just want to bend a rod, these fish deliver consistent action and make for great eating too.
